1. GENERAL
This section provides installation and maintenance
information for the ADTRAN Advanced
Communications Terminal Line Interface Unit (ACT
LIU). Figure 1 is an illustration of the unit. Detailed
product information can be found in ADTRAN
Description, Section 61150070L1-2.
Features
The basic features of the ACT LIU, List 1, part
number 1150070L1 include the following:
Provides for T1 interface at the DSX-1 interface
SF or ESF data framing formats
AMI or B8ZS line code formats
Local or remote loopbacks
Front panel Bantam jacks for testing
Front panel indicators showing the status of the
unit

Description
The ADTRAN ACT LIU is a common card plug-in
for the ADTRAN ACT 2300 and ACT 1900 channel
banks. It connects the channel bank to a T1 line at the
DSX-1 level. All data formatting and line encoding
are performed by the ACT LIU. The ACT LIU also
provides timing for the channel bank.
