This section provides installation and maintenance
information for the ADTRAN Advanced
Communications Terminal Line Interface Unit (ACT
LIU). Figure 1 is an illustration of the unit. Detailed
product information can be found in ADTRAN

Features
The basic features of the ACT LIU, List 1, part
number 1150070L1 include the following:
• Provides for T1 interface at the DSX-1 interface
• SF or ESF data framing formats
• AMI or B8ZS line code formats
• Local or remote loopbacks
• Front panel Bantam jacks for testing
• Front panel indicators showing the status of the
unit
• Front panel DB-9 connector for access to timing
signals for testing

Issue 4 adds a Note on the T1 interface and updates
the document format.
Description
The ADTRAN ACT LIU is a common card plug-in
for the ADTRAN ACT 2300 and ACT 1900 channel
banks. It connects the channel bank to a T1 line at the
DSX-1 level. All data formatting and line encoding
are performed by the ACT LIU. The ACT LIU also
provides timing for the channel bank.
