DDL Compiler Commands
dict-subvol-name
is a dictionary subvolume name in this form:
[\node-name.][$volume-name.][subvolume-name]
If dict-subvol-name is omitted, DDL uses the current system, volume, and
subvolume. If node-name is omitted, DDL uses the current system; if volume-
name is omitted, the current volume; and if subvolume-name is omitted, the
current subvolume.
DICTR Command Guidelines
The following points are guidelines for using the DICTR command:
If there is no dictionary on the specified subvolume, DDL issues a warning
message and continues.
DDL ignores the NOSAVE command when a dictionary is opened with DICTR.
Only one dictionary can be open at a time. If you use the DICTR command when
you already have a dictionary open, DDL closes the current dictionary before
opening the specified dictionary.
DICTR Command Example
This command opens the dictionary on $DATA.SALES for read-only access:
?DICTR $data.sales

EDIT Command

The EDIT command instructs the DDL compiler to:
Suspend execution of DDL
Start an EDIT process
Resume DDL execution when the EDIT process stops
You can use EDIT only in an interactive DDL session.
EDIT [ edit-file-name [ ; edit-parameter ] ... ]
EDIT
suspends DDL execution and starts an EDIT process.
edit-file-name
identifies an EDIT file. If you omit edit-file-name, DDL uses the last edit-
file-name and the last edit-parameter, if any, specified in the current
DDL session.
