NOTE: CHECK WATER LINE OFSTEAM BOILER, ORBECERTAIN SYSTEM IS FULL
FOR WATER BOILER, BEFORE PROCEEDING
WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

WARNING:
If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result
causing property

injury, or loss of life.
A. This appliance has pilots which must be lighted by hand. When
lighting the pilots, follow these instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE OPERATINGsmel_all around the appliance area for
gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is
heavierthan air and will settle on the floor.
WHATTO DO IFYOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any phone in
your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone.
Follow the gas supplier's instructions.

• If youcannot r eachyourgassupplier, c allthefiredepartment.
Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas control knob.
Never use tools. If the knob will not push in or turn by hand,
don't try to repair it, call a qualified service technician. Forceor
attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion.
Do not use thisapplianceif any part has been underwater.
Immediately call a qualifiedservicetechnician to inspectthe
appliance andto replace anypartofthecontrolsystem andany
gascontrol w hichhasbeenunderwater.
LIGHTING
INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP! Read the safety information above on thispage.
2. Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
3. Turn off all electric power to the appliance.
4. If the gas control assemblyis not visible, removecontrol access
panel,
5. g the manualshut-off lever and pilot cock are not in the "OFF"
position,

6. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. If Nu smell gas,
includingnear the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow "B" in the
safety informationabove on this page. If you don't smell gas, go
to the next step.

9. Turnthe pilot cockhandle counterclockwise _
to "ON."
10. Push in red reset buttonon right hand pilot valve all the way and
hold in. Immediately light the right hand pilot with a match.
Continueto hold the resetbutton in forabout one (1) minute after
the pilot is lit. Release button and it will pop back up, Pilot
should remain lit. If it goes out, repeat steps 5 through10.

Repeatabovelighting procedure with left hand pilotvalveand
left handpilot.
• If eitherbuttondoesnotpop upwhenreleased, stopand
immediately c allyourservicetechnician or gassupplier.
• If thepilotswill notstaylitafterseveral t ries,turnthepilot
cockhandle to "OFF"andcallyourservicetechnician or
gassupplier.
12. Replace pilot access panel, if applicable.
7. Remove the pilot accesspanel, i f supplied,locatedbelowand
behind thegasvalvedirectlyaboveburnertubes.
8. Find pilots-- follow metaltubefromeachpilotvalve. E achpilot
isbetween two burner tubes.

Turnmanual shut-off levercountercloekwise _
to"ON."
Replace control a ccess panel, if applicable.
Turnon all electric power to the appliance.
Set thermostat to desired setting.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1, Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
2. Turnoff all electric power to the appliance if service is to be per-
formed.
3. Ifthegascontrol a ssembly isnotvisible,remove control access
panel.
4. Turn the pilot cockand the manual shut-off leverclockwise
to"OFF."
5. Replace control access panel, if applicable.
