The edger blade

After setting up the
unit, service engine
with gasoline as in-
structed in the separate
enginemanual packed
with your unit. Be sure
to service engine with
the oil enclosed with
this unit as instructed
in the separate engine
manual.

Securing the Handle
IMPORTANT: T his unitis shippedWITHOUTGASOLINE.
After settingup the unit, serviceengine with gasolineas
instructedin the separateenginemanualpackedwith your
unit. Be sureto serviceengine with the oil enclosedwith
this unit as instructedin the separateenginemanual.
NOTE: Referenceto right or left hand side of the edger is
observedfromthe operatingposition.
Positioningthe Edger Handles
1. Removeand discardanypackagingcardboardthat
may be presentbetweenthe upper handleand the
lowerhandle.
2. Depressthe bladecontrolat thetop of the upper
handleand pivot the upperhandleupwarduntil it
snapsinto place(1).
3. Tightenthe handknobs,whichare locatedon boththe
left and rightsides of the handle(2). See Figure2.
Attaching the Starter Rope
1. Locatethe ropeguide foundon the rightsideof the
upperhandle.
2. Loosen,butdo NOT remove,the wingknobwhich
securesthe rope guideto the upper handle.See
Figure2.
3. Standbehindthe unitand holdthe blade control
againstthe upperhandle(1) and gently pull the starter
rope outof the engine (2).
WARNING: The edgerblade WILL
rotate when the starter ropeis pulled.
NOTE: The starterrope will notpull out of the engine
unlessthe bladecontrol (referto Figure2) is depressed
againstthe upperhandle.
4. Slip the starterropethroughthetop of the ropeguide
(3).
5. Retightenthe wing knobwhichsecuresthe ropeguide
to the upperhandle (4).
