GAS AND OiL FILL-UP
1. Checkoil leveland add oil ifnecessary.Followengine
manualfor this. See Figure4-1 for locationof the oil
fill.
2. Servicethe enginewith gasolineas instructedin the
engine manual. See Figure4-1 for locationof gas fill.

with engine runningor until the engine
hasbeen allowed to coolfor at least two
minutesafter running.

IMPORTANT: T he bag/chuteswitchbuttonmustbe fully
depressedby the tip of front tab on bag handleor blower
chute for engineto start.
1. Attachspark plugwire and rubberboot to sparkplug.
2. Makesuresafetyswitchwire is connectedto engine
and properlygroundedto mountingbracket.
3. Engines with chokelever:
Movechokeleveron engineto CHOKEposition.(A
warm enginemay not requirechoking).
Engines with primer:
Primeengineas instructedin separateengine manual.
4. The throttlecontrolleveris locatedon the engine.
Moveenginethrottlecontrol leverto FASTor START
position.See Figure4-2.
5. Standingbehindthe unit,grasp starterhandleand pull
ropeout slowlyuntilengine reachesstart of compres-
sion cycle(rope will pull slightlyharderat this point).
See Figure4-3.
6. Pull ropewith a rapid,continuous,fullarm stroke.
Keepa firm grip on starterhandle.Let roperewind
slowly.
7. Repeatthe previousstepsuntilenginefires.When
engine starts,movechokecontrol(if equipped)
graduallyto RUNposition.

8. If enginefalters,movechokecontrol backtowardthe
throttlecontroland repeatsteps5 through7.
9. ALWAYS keepthe throttlecontrol in the START/RUN
positionwhenoperatingtheYardVacuum.
