MOWING

Before mowing, set the cutting height as described in
the Troubleshooting, Adjustments & Service section.
1. Engage the parking brake. Make sure the PTO
switch is disengaged and the motion control lever is
in the NEUTRAL position.
2. Start the engine (see STARTING THE ENGINE).
3. Set the throttle to FULL.
4. Engage the PTO by pulling up on the PTO switch (E,
Figure 1).
5. Begin mowing. See Lawn Care section for tips on
mowing patterns, lawn care, and trouble shooting
information.
6. When finished, shut off the PTO.
7. Stop the engine (see STOPPING THE TRACTOR
AND ENGINE).

PUSHING THE MOWER BY HAND

DO NOT TOW MACHINE
Towing the machine will cause hydraulic
transaxle damage. Do not use another vehi-
cle to push or pull this unit.
1. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, turn
the ignition OFF, and remove the key.
2. To disengage the transmissions (free-wheel position),
lift the hydraulic release levers (A, Figure 3) located
in front of the transmission fan screen. Lock into
position shown in Figure 3.
3. Disengage the parking brake.
The mower can now be pushed by hand.
4. After moving the mower, re-engage the transmis-
sions (drive position) by unlocking the levers and
returning them to the down position. If the levers are
not completely down, a partial by-pass may potential-
ly damage the transmissions.
