Progressive format
(sequential scanning)
]n contrast to tile ]nterlace l\trmat, the
progressive fi_rmat can reproduce 50 - 60 flames
per second by reproducing all scanning lines
(525 lines for tile NTSC system). The overall
picture quality increases and still images, text
and horizontal lines appear sharper. This format
is compatible with the 525 or 625 progressive
l\_rmat.

media, Digital Broadcasting, and other high-
quality media.
To ensure that the subtle nuances of these high-
quality media are transmitted with no
deterioration, Sony has developed a technology
called "S-AIR" l\_r the radio transmission of
digital audio signals with no compression, and
has incorporated this technology into the EZW=
RT 1()/EZW-T 1(t0.
This technology transfers digital audio signals
with no compression using the 2.4 GHz band
range of 1SM band (Industrial, Scientific, and
Medical band), such as wireless LANs and
Bluetooth applications.
Super Audio CD
Super Audio CD is a new high-quality audio
disc standard where music is recorded ill the
DSD (Direct Stream Digital) format
(conventional CD is recorded in the PCM
l\_rmat). The DSD lormat, using a sampling
frequency 64 times higher than that of a
conventional CD, and with l-bit quantization,
achieves both a wide frequency range and a wide
dynamic range across tile audible frequency
range, and so provides music reproduction
extremely fuithfld to the original sound.
• Super Audio CD types
There are two types of discs, depending on tile

• Super Audio CD layer: A high-density
signal layer for Super Audio CD
