Donot placeintoyour dryeritemsthathavebeen
spottedor soaked with vegetable oil or cooking
oil. Evenafterbeingwashed, t heseitemsmay
containsignificantamountsof theseoils. The
remaining oil can ignite spontaneously. The
potential for spontaneous ignition increases
when the items containingvegetableoil or
cookingoil areexposed to heat.Heat sources,
such as your clothesdryer, can warm these
items,allowinganoxidationreaction in theoil
to occur.Oxidation createsheat. If this heat
cannot escape,the items can becomehot
enoughto catchfire.Piling,stackingor storing
thesekinds of items may preventheat from
escaping andcancreate a fire hazard.
All washedand unwashedfabricsthat contain
vegetable oil or cookingoil canbe dangerous.
Washingtheseitems in hot water with extra
detergent w ill reduce,but will not eliminate,
thehazard.Alwaysusethe "cooldown" cycle
for theseitemsto reducethe items'tempera-
ture. Never remove these items from the
clothesdryer hot or interruptthe drying cycle
until the items have run through the "cool
down" cycle.Neverpile or stacktheseitems
when theyarehot.
