General
Recommendations
1. Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhen performing
anymaintenance.
2. Thewarrantyon this lawnmowerdoesnot cover
itemsthat havebeen subjectedto operatorabuse
or negligence.To receivefull valuefromwarranty,
operatormustmaintainthelawn moweras
instructedhere.
3. Changingof engine-governed speedwill void
enginewarranty.
4. All adjustmentsshouldbe checkedat leastonce
eachseason.
5. Periodicallycheckall fastenersand makesurethese
are tight.

disconnect spark plug,and ground

lubricating or doing any kindof
maintenance on your machine.
Lubrication
1. Lubricatepivot pointson theblade controlat least
oncea seasonwith lightoil. The bladecontrol must
operatefreely inboth directions.See Figure11.
2. Lubricatethe wheelsat least oncea seasonwith
lightoil (or motoroil). If wheelsare removedfor any
reason,lubricatethe axle boltand innersurfaceof the
wheelwith lightoil. See Figure11.
3. Lubricatethe torsionspringand pivot pointon each
end of the adapterdoor at least oncea seasonwith
lightoil to preventrust.See Figure11.
4. Thetransmissionis pre-lubricated and sealedat the
factoryand does not requirelubrication.
5. Followtheaccompanying engine manualfor lubrica-
tion scheduleand instruction for engine lubrication.
Deck Care
1. Disconnectsparkplug wire. Draingasolinefrom lawn
mower,or placea pieceof plasticunderthe gas cap.
2. Tip mowersothat it restson the housing.Keepthe
sidewith the air cleanerfacingup. Hold mowerfirmly.
WARNING:Never tip the mower more
than 90 degrees in any directions and
do not leavethe mower tipped for any
length of time. Oil can drain intothe
upper part of the engine causing a
starting problem.
3. Scrapeand clean the undersideof the deck with a
suitabletool. Do notspraywith water.
4. Putthe mowerback on itswheelson the ground.If
youhad put plasticunderthe gas capearlier,make
sureto removeit now.
Engine
Care
1. Maintainoil levelas instructedin enginemanual.
2. Serviceair cleanerevery25 hoursundernormal
conditions.Cleaneveryfew hoursunderextremely
dustyconditions.Referto engine manual.
3. Cleansparkplug and resetthegap once a season.
Checkenginemanualfor correctplugtype and gap
specifications.
4. Cleanengineregularlywith a cloth or brush. Keepthe
coolingsystem(blowerhousingarea) cleanto permit
properair circulation.Removeall grass,dirt and
combustible debrisfrom mufflerarea.
Replacing
Rear Flap
Toreplacerearflap, proceedas follows:
1. Cut off theflat endof the wirerod which securesitto
the deck.See Figure12.
2. Attachthe newflapand newrod to the deck,bending
the endsof the new rodoverto secureto deck.
