Shutter Speed
You can set the shutter speed manually. A fast
shutter speed can freeze the motion of a fast-
moving subject and a slow shutter speed can
blur the subject to give the impression of motion.
1 Select [S.SP] in the MSET menu. ( pg. 32)
2 If [AUTO] is selected, press A.
3 Press </> to select the desired shutter
speed. The shutter speed is displayed.
You can select the shutter speed from the
followings.
If you cannot change the value, press 1_11.
The shutter speed is fixed at
1/2 second. This enables
NIGHTALIVE shooting with little light in dim
locations. The _ indicator
appears.

1/8 Slow shutter speed can blur
1/15 the subject to give the
1/30 impression of flowing motion,
The shutter speed is fixed at
1/60 second. Black bands that
1/60 usually appear when shooting
a TV screen become
narrower,
The shutter speed is fixed at
1/100 second. The flickering
that occurs when shooting
1/100
under a fluorescent light or
mercury-vapor lamp is
reduced.
Fast shutter speed allows
1/250 fast-moving subject to be
1/600 captured one frame at a time
1/1000" vividly. Use these settings
when an automatic
1/2000"
1/4000" adjustment does not work well
by _ (SPORTS) mode in
Program AE. ( pg. 36)
Not available for still image recording.
4 Press I_11. The setting is completed.

To change the shutter speed
Press I_11, then select the shutter speed by
pressing < / > and press I_11,
To return to automatic shutter speed
Select [AUTO] in step ;3.
NOTES:
• It is recommended to use a tripod when recording
with a slow shutter speed.
• The shutter speed can be set separately in video
and still image.
