Headphone jack: 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) in diameter. Use it to connect an external headphone.
7 Microphone jack: 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) in diameter. Use it to connect an external microphone.
8 USB 2.0 connectors: Connect USB 2.0 compatible devices.
9 Security keyhole: Use a security cable lock that fits this keyhole to lock your ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3
to a stationary object to protect it from theft.
10 System lock key: Use the system lock key to lock the eject button. When the eject button is locked, you
cannot attach or remove your computer.
11 Drive bay: Install a Serial Ultrabay Slim device, such as an optical drive (DVD-ROM drive) or a second
hard disk drive.

Bottom view

1 Eject request button: Press the eject request button to undock the computer.

Docking station indicator: This indicator lights red when your computer is docked. It blinks when the
eject button is pressed.
3 Eject lever: Use it to lift your computer up from the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 when you undock the
computer.

Attaching the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3
Attention: Disconnect the ac power from your computer before you attach the ThinkPad UltraBase Series
3. The ac power adapter connector will be damaged if it remains connected to the computer during the
attachment.
You can hot attach or warm attach the computer to the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3. Hot attachment is
attaching the computer to the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 while the computer is in operating mode; warm
attachment is attaching the computer to the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 while the computer is in sleep
mode.
In doing a hot or warm attachment, note the following:
• For hot attachment: The docking station indicator of the ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 should turn on after
a few seconds.
• For warm attachment: When the computer returns from sleep mode, the docking station indicator
should turn on.
