Wipe up heavy soil on the oven
bottom.

a Self-Clean
Cycle
[A WARNING i
FIRE HAZARD: Wipegreaseand heavysoil from the
ovenbottom beforeself-cleaning. F ailureto do so
may result in an ovenfire.
Werecommendventingyour kitchenwith an open
windowor usinga ventilationfan or hood duringthe
firstself-cleancycle.
Remove any broilerpan,broilergrid,probe,all
cookwareand anyaluminumfoilfrom the oven.
NOTE:
tf yourovenisequippedwith shiny,silver-colored
ovenracks, w e recommendyou removethem
beforeyou beginthe self-cleancycle. T heymay
remainin the ovenduringthe self-cleancycle,but
they will darken,losetheirlusterand becomehard
to slide.
tf yourovenisequippedwith grayporcelain-
coatedovenracks, t hey may be left in the oven
duringthe self-clean cycle.
Soilon the front frameof the rangeand outside
the gasketon the door willneedto be cleanedby
hand.Cleantheseareaswith hotwater,soap-filled
steel-wool p adsor cleanserssuchasSoftScrub _.
Rinse wellwith cleanwater and dry.
Donot cleanthegasket.Thefiberglassmaterialof
the ovendoor gasketcannot withstandabrasion, i t is
essential f or the gasketto remainintact,tfyou notice
it becoming worn or frayed,replaceit.
Makesurethe ovenlightbulb coveris in placeand
the ovenlightisoff.
IMPORTANT: Thehealthof somebirdsisextremely
sensitive to the fumesgivenoff duringthe self-
cleaningcycleof any range.Hovebirdsto another
well-ventilated room.
DoubleOvenand CanadianModelsOnly:
Thesurfaceunitsare automatically disabledduring
the self-clean cycle.Flakesurethat all surface
unit controlsareturnedoff at alltimesduringthe
self-cleancycle. A nysurfaceunit that isset to an
"on"positionwhilethe self-cleancycleisoperating
willautomaticallycomeon after the self-cleancycle
isfinished,and couldresultin an "on"unattended
surfaceunit.Wait untilthe self-cleancycleisfinished
to set and usethe surfaceunits.

How to Set the Oven for Self-Cleaning
Theovendoorsmustbe dosedandall controls set
correctly for thecycleto workproperly.

TouchtheSELF CLEAN pad.

tf a time otherthanthe defaulttime isneeded,
usethe number padsand enterthe desired
cleantime.
Youcanchangethe cleontime to anytime between
3 hoursand 5 hours,dependingon how dirtyyour
ovenis.

TouchtheSTART pad.
Theovendoor locksautomatically. T hedisplay will
showthe cleantime remaining, i t will not be possible
to open theovendoor untilthe temperaturedrops
belowthe locktemperatureand LOCKED/DOOR
goesoff in the controldisplay.
ThewordLOCKED/DOOR _ will flash andthe
word door willdisplayifyou set the cleancycle
andforget to closethe ovendoor.
Tostop a cleancycle,touch the CLEAR/OFF pad.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR _ goesoff,indicatingthe
ovenhascooledbelowthe lockingtemperature,
you will beable to open thedoor.
DoubleOvens:
Youcan set a cleoncyclein bothovensat the
sometime;however,they will notself-cleonat the
sometime.Thelostovenset willautomatically
delayits start untilthe end ofthe first oven'sclean
cycle.
Whenan oven issetto self-clean, b oth ovendoors
will lockand the cooktopcontrolswill lockout.The
ovensand cooktopcannot be usedwhen an oven
isset to self-clean.
