TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE
DRIVE BELT
The mower blade drive belt may be re-
placedwithouttools. Parkthe tractoron
lev91surface. Engage parkingbrake.
BELTREMOVAL-
* Remove mowerfrom tractor(See "TO
REMOVE MOWER" in this sectionof
this manual).
• Work belt off bothmandrel pulleys'and
idler pulleys.
• Pullbelt away from mower.
BELTINSTALLATION-
• Install new belt in reverse order of re-
moval.
• Make sure belt is in all pulley grooves
and inside all belt guides.
• Install mower in reverseorder of re-
moval instructions.

TO ADJUST BRAKE
Yourtractoris equipped withan adjust-
able brake system whichis mountedon
the side of the transaxle.
If tractorrequiresmore than six (6) feet
stoppingdistance at high speed in high-
est gear, then brake mustbe adjusted.
• Depressclutch/brakepedal and en-
gage parkingbrake.
• Measure distance between brake oper-
atingarm and nut =A"on brake rod.
• If distanceis otherthan 1-9/16", loosen
jam nut and turn nut =A"until distance
becomes 1-9/16". Retightenjam nut
againstnut =A".
• Road test tractorfor properstopping
distanceas statedabove. Readjustif
necessary. If stoppingdistanceis still
greaterthan six (6) feet in highestgear,
further maintenance is necessary. Con-
tact your nearest authorizedservice
center/department. 24

side of left footrest.
• Removemower (See "TO REMOVE
MOWER" in this sectionof this manu
• Disconnectclutchwire harness.
• Remove clutchIocator.
• Remove belt from stationaryidler an
clutchingidler.
• Pull belt slacktowardrear of tractor.
Carefullyremove belt upwardsfrom
transmissioninput pulleyand over
coolingfan blades.
• Pullbelt towardfront of tractorand r(
move downwardsfrom aroundelect_
clutch,
• Installnew belt by reversingabove p
cedure.
