Description
When the camera detects the main
subject, it focuses on that subject.
Press tile shutter-release
button
halfway to activate tile focus area.
When the shutter-release button is
)ressed halfway, focus areas that suit
the size of the subject are displayed
in the monitor (up to 12 areas).
When the main subject cannot be
AF area
detected, the AF area mode setting
switches to Auto, and the camera selects the focus areas (up to
nine areas) containing
the subject closest to the camera.

Mode
• When
digital zoom
is in effect,
focus will be on the center
of the screen regardless
of the AF area
mode
setting,
• Some settings
cannot
be used with other functions

• Autofocus
may not perform
as expected.

detect
the main subject
in the following
situations:
The focus area will be the same as when AF area mode
is set to Auto.
When vividness
or hue is adjusted
using the creative
slider
White
balance
is set to any setting
other
than Auto
• The camera
may not detect
the main subject
appropriately
in the following
situations:
When the image shown
in the monitor
is very dark or bright
When the main subject
lacks clearly
defined
colors
When the shot is framed
such that the main subject
is on the edge of the monitor
When the main subject
is composed
of a repeating
pattern
