TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
CAUSE
• Dirty fuel filter.
• Stale or dirty fuel.
• Water in fuel.

Dirty engine air screen/fins. •
Dirty/clogged muffler. •
Loose or damaged wiring. •
Carburetor out of •
adjustment.
Engine valves out of •
adjustment.
Worn, bent or loose blade. •
Bent blade mandrel. •
Loose/damaged part(s). •
Faulty operator-safety •
presence control system.
Worn, bent or loose blade. •
Mower deck not level. •
Buildup of grass, leaves, •
and trash under mower.
Bent blade mandrel. •
Clogged mower deck vent •
from build-up of grass,
leaves, and trash around
mandrels.
• Set in "Higher Cut" position/
reduce speed.
• Adjust throttle control.
Clean underside of mower
housing.
Clean/replace air filter.
Check oil level/change oil.
Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
Replace fuel filter.
Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
Drain fuel tank and carbure-
tor, refill tank with fresh
gasoline and replace fuel
filter.
Connect and tighten spark
plug wire.
Clean engine air screen/
fins.
Clean/replace muffler.
Check all wiring.
See "To Adjust Carburetor"
in Service Adjustments
section.
Contact an authorized
service center/department.
Replace blade.
Tighten blade bolt.
Replace blade mandrel.
Tighten loose part(s).
Replace damaged parts.
Check wiring, switches and
connections. If not corrected
contact an authorized
service center/department.
Replace blade. Tighten
blade bolt.
Level mower deck.
Clean underside of mower
housing.
Replace blade mandrel.
Clean around mandrels to
open vent holes.
