    The standard 8MB memory can be expanded up to 136MB by loading two extension DIMM slots with commercially available memory modules (16MB, 32MB, or 64MB sizes). For detailed information, contact your authorized SHARP service center. Optional job separator tray If the optional job separator tray is installed, the printed copy is output on separate trays.

    CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER There are two ways of using this printer with your computer: Connect the printer to the parallel port of an IBM PC/AT or compatible computer Use the printer in network environment * * Requires the optional Print Server Card. To connect this printer to your computer, you will need to obtain an interface cable or network cable suitable for your computing environment.

    CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER Connecting to a Network This printer can be used in a network environment by installing the optional Print Server Card. For details about settings, refer to the manuals that came with your Print Server Card and network OS. The cables and adaptors required for connection with a network depend on the network environment.

    STARTING PRINTING The printed copy is output. If the optional job separator tray is installed, the printed copy is output on the job separator tray. Job separator tray When copying is being done on this machine, copying always overrides any printing. Print data is held during copying.

    OPERATION PANEL Located on the front of the machine, the operation panel consists of indicator lights, a liquid crystal display and six keys.   • Page 23 BEFORE USING THIS EQUIPMENT Operation Keys To make print settings from the operation panel, use the operation keys which have the following functions: Operation Key Description LINE key Changes between the online and offline modes. ON LINE In the online mode, the printer receives data from the computer connected to the printer. In the offline mode, you can use operation panel keys to make print settings.

    INTERRUPTING PRINTING To interrupt a print job in progress, press the LINE key. While printing is stopped, you can receive faxes on models in which the optional Facsimilie Expansion Kit* has been installed. * The optional Facsimilie Expansion Kit is not available in certain areas.     USING THE OPERATION PANEL TO MAKE PRINT SETTINGS You can control printing using either the operation panel on the printer or by using the printer driver software installed on your computer. This section explains the menus that may be set from the operation panel of the printer and their operation procedures.

    SETTING THE NETWORK Use the following procedure to set the network if the optional Print Server Card is installed: Press the LINE key to switch the printer to the offline mode. DATA ON LINE MENU ITEM ENTER Press the MENU key to display the Network Menu.
