Playback
Displaying the Date and Time
of Recording
Available modes: all modes
Follow the procedure below to display the date,
or both the date and time, of recording on the
screen. You can display the date and time
during both recording and playback.

Hold down the Lock button and set the
POWER switch to CAMERA or VCR.

Press the MENU/DISPLAY button until
the menu screen appears.

Select P, then press SET. Select
"DISPLAY" (1), then press SET (2).

Press f or d to select "DATE" or
"DATEHTIME", and then press SET.

Press the MENU/DISPLAY button to
turn off the menu screen.
• The date (or the date and time) is
displayed.

Notes:
• Before recording, make sure that the date and
time have been correctly set (see pages 18 and
19). If they have not been set, the display will be
left blank ("–") when playing back the recording.
(The display will also be left blank for unre-
corded or damaged portions of the tape.)
• In TAPE-VCR mode, the current date and time
are displayed when the tape is not being played
back.

Using Earphones (Commer-
cially Available)
Available modes: TAPE-VCR, TAPE-CAMERA,
DUAL-CAMERA
You can monitor the sound via stereo ear-
phones (commercially available) during
playback or recording. Stereo earphones with a
3.5 mm diameter plug can be connected to the
camcorder by using the supplied earphones
connecting cable.
Open the jack cover, and connect stereo
earphones to the camcorder as shown in the
figure.
Notes:
• Before connecting stereo earphones, turn the
camcorder volume down to the lowest setting.
• The built-in speaker automatically turns off when
stereo earphones are connected to the PHONES
jack.
• When recording, you cannot adjust the volume
with the Power Zoom/VOL. buttons on the

camcorder. Use the VOL. buttons on the infrared
remote control instead.
