Through Sawing
Any cutting operation where the biade extends completely through the thicknessof
the workpiece
Non-Through Cuts
Any cutting operation where the blade does not extend completely through the
thickness of the workpiece, like a dado cut.
Leading End
The end of the workpiece pushed into toot first
Kerr
The material removed by the blade in a through cut or the slot produced by the blade
in a non-through or partial cut,
Kickback
A hazard that can occur when the blade binds or stalls, throwing the workpiece back
toward operator
Workplece or Materiel
The item on which the cutting operation is being done. The surfaces of a workpiece
are commonly referred to es faces, ends and edges
Gum
A sticky, sap-based residue from wood products
Resin
A sticky, sap-based substance that has hardened

Your saw should NEVER be connected to the power
source when you are assembling parts, meking adjustments, Installing or
removing blades, cleaning or when It Is not In use. Disconnecting the saw
will prevent accidental starting, which could cause serlous personal injury.
1 Open the carton and remove the carrylstorage case
2 Place the storage case on a flat, stable surface, with the hinged buckles
facing you
3 Flip the buckles up to release the lid,
4 Open the lid and carefully lift the saw from the case
5 Place the saw on a fiat, stable surface to inspectr
6 The saw's cutting blade is already installed
7 The heavy-duty edge guide is mounted in the top of the case's lid, Unscrew the
hold-down washer to remove the guide
8. The blade wrench is force.fitted into the bottom of the case The wrench is used
when changing or installing a new blade,
9 There is a blade storage area in the bottom of the case where an extra blade can
be secured
10 Inspect the saw carefully to make sure that no breakage or damage has occurred
during shipping, If any of the items 1.through 7, are missing (Refer to Parts List
on page 12) return the saw to your nearest Sears store or Sears outlet to have
it replaced
