Snowy picture and unclear sound.
MutUpte images or "ghostshadows"
• Check yourantennaconnection or location
• Check your cable .input.
• Check to see if the TV/.VCRbutton on ?our VCRhas the TVselected.
• Check your antenna directionand/or tocaUon.
• Checkyour cableinput
• Hake sure the cablefrom your antenna to your EntertainmentMachine is
properlyconnected.
Interference: Sharp tines across
the screen and unclear sound.
Thefollowing may causeimage problemsor distortion:
Electricalappliances,powerful lights, cars,trucks;computersor
portable phones; medical equipment
• If possibleincreasethe distancebetweenyour Entertainment Machine and
the offending appUance. O r shut one of them off.
Normat picture but no sound.
• Check volume Levels.
• Make sure the TV is not Muted.
• Tryanother channel The problemmay be the broadcast,not your
Entertainment Machine.
• Arethe Audio A/V cables propertyinstalled?
• Arethe wires for external speakers (if you haveexternal speakers)
propertyinstaEed?
• Make sureyour speakers turned on underthe Audio menu.
• If your audio modeis set to SAP,that channetmay not have a SAPprogram.
No picture and undear soun_d.
• Areyou in TV or cable tuning mode,and shouldbe in the other?
• Makesureoutput channels on at[ A/V equipmentare on the samechannel(3 or 4).
• Checkthat all connectionsare tight.
No picture and no sound.
• Is the ACpower pluggedin?
• Checkthat your ACpoweroutlet works.(Test it by ptuggingin something
else or try another plug.)
• Hake sure your brightnessand audiocontrols are set properly.
• Try another channel The problemmay be with the broadcast.
No color, but the sound is O.K.

• Try anotherchannel The problemmay be with the broadcast.
Picture has a big black box
on it, but the sound is O.K.
• The CC(ctosedcaption) option may be in Textmode. SelectCaption 1, or OFF
in the Captions/Textmenu.(See page 20).
Picture has two horizontat
black bars, one on top and
one on bottom.
• Yourprogramis in letterbox. This meansthat the shape of your TVis a
square,but the programis a rectangle. Think of the bars as emptyspacethe
programdoesn't fiE; not picture that's blockedout. Becausethis format is a
direct representationof film as you seeit in the movies,you are actually seeing
