    Getting Started The EPSON EPL-5700 printer combines high performance and reliability with a wide range of features. To get started with your laser printer, please: Read the safety information, laser printer precautions, and important safety instructions in this section. Use your Getting Ready! guide to set up and test your new printer.

    Appendix E, “Contacting Customer Support,” details customer support information. About Your Printer Your printer is the latest in EPSON’s advanced line of laser printers. It emulates the Hewlett-Packard printer, allowing you to print using the wide variety of software programs that support HP LaserJet printers.

    The printer is easy to install and use. You simply set up the printer, connect it to your computer, and install the printer driver as described in the Getting Ready! guide. The printer supports ECP mode in Windows 95. ECP mode is useful for high-speed data transfer and bidirectional communication with your computer.

    Safety Information Laser safety This printer is certified as a Class 1 laser product under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard according to the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968. This means that the printer does not produce hazardous laser radiation.

    EPSONScript Level 2 module (C83229 PostScript output. See “ROM module”. Optional interface cards and modules provide a variety of interfaces, allowing you to use your EPL-5700 with an Ethernet network, a Macintosh, an IBM main frame and other specialized interfaces.

    Face Up Tray The printer normally outputs paper face down on top of the printer. If you want face-up output, you can install the optional Face Up Tray(C81286 viewing of your printed output and is recommended for printing on media such as labels and transparencies that require a straight-through paper path.
