Appendix A: Troubleshooting

The appendix will provide help if you experience problems with your printer. It tells
you how to test the printer, how to check system software settings, and how to adjust
the vertical alignment. In addition, there is information on actions to take for specific
problems, and on the meanings of printer beep tones.
Warning!
The printer uses high voltage. Do not attempt any other repair or maintenance
except as expressly recommended in this appendix. Unauthorized repair and
maintenance not only exposes you to the danger of electrical shock, it also may
damage your printer and void your warranty.
Short test
Use the following procedure to test the printer to make sure that everything is
working correctly.
Make sure that paper is loaded in the printer.
Turn off the printer.
While holding down the control panel's ON LINE button, turn the printer back
on.
This test prints the version number of the software contained in the printer's
ROM followed by the current EDS settings.
To stop demo printing, turn the printer off.
Long test
Use the following procedure to test the printer to make sure that everything is
working correctly.
Make sure that paper is loaded in the printer.
Turn off the printer.
While holding down the control panel's LF button, turn the printer back on.
This test prints the title and seven lines of text, and then continues to print by the
entire character set for each font and pitch available.
To stop demo printing, turn the printer off.
Note:
Test printing prints across the entire width of the carriage. Make sure that the
printer is loaded with the widest paper available in order to avoid damage to the
print head and platen.

Si vous rencontrez des problèmes lors de l'utilisation de l'imprimante, consultez
cette annexe qui indique comment tester l'imprimante, comment vérifier les réglages
du programme d'application et comment régler l'alignement vertical. L'annexe
contient également les démarches à suivre pour remédier à certains problèmes
spécifiques et la signification des bips sonores émis par l'imprimante.
Attention!
Cette imprimante fonctionne sur une tension élevée. N'essayez pas d'effectuer des
réparations ou manipulations autres que celles indiquées dans l'annexe. Si vous
exécutez des manipulations non autorisées, vous serez exposé à des chocs électriques
et vous risquerez d'endommager l'imprimante et de perdre vos droits de garantie.
Test court
Effectuez les démarches suivantes pour tester l'imprimante et vérifier que tout
fonctionne correctement.
Assurez-vous que l'imprimante contient du papier.
Mettez l'imprimante hors tension.
Tout en tenant enfoncée la touche ON LINE du panneau de commande, mettez
l'imprimante sous tension.
Le test court provoque l'impression du numéro de version du logiciel contenu
dans la ROM de l'imprimante, suivi des réglages EDS courants.
Pour arrêter l'impression, mettez l'imprimante hors tension.
Test complet
Effectuez les démarches suivantes pour tester l'imprimante et vérifier que tout
fonctionne correctement.
Assurez-vous que l'imprimante contient du papier.
Mettez l'imprimante hors tension.
Tout en tenant enfoncée la touche LF du panneau de commande, mettez
l'imprimante sous tension.
Le test provoque l'impression du titre, suivi de sept lignes de texte.
L'imprimante imprime ensuite le jeu de caractères complet pour chaque police et
chaque pas disponibles.
Pour arrêter le test d'impression, mettez l'imprimante hors tension.
Remarque:
Etant donné que l'impression du test complet occupe toute la largeur du chariot,
prévoyez du papier de largeur suffisante pour éviter d'endommager la tête
d'impression ou le cylindre.
