° Keep t henozzle i ncontact with therim
ofthe fuel t ank orcontainer opening at
all t imes u ntil fueling iscomplete. Do not
use a nozzle lock-open device.
- Iffuel isspilted onclothing, change cloth-
ingimmediately.
• Never overfillfueltank. Replace gas cap
and tighten securely.
GENERAL SERVICE
• Never o perate m achine i n a closed
area.
° Keep a ll n uts a nd bolts t ightto b e surethe
equipment isinsafe working condition.
- Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Check
their p roper operation regularly.
o Keep machine free ofgrass, leaves, or
other debris b uild-up. Clean o ilorfuel
spillage and remove any f uel-soaked de-
bris. Allow m achineto cool beforestoring.
• if youstrike a foreign o bject, stop and
inspectthe machine. Repair, ifnecessary,
before r estarting.
• Never make a ny adjustments orrepairs
with theengine running.
• Check grass catcher components and the
discharge chute f requently and replace
with manufacturer's recommended parts,
when n ecessary.
Mower blades aresharp. Wrapthe blade
orwear g loves, anduseextra caution
when s ervicing them.
• Checkbrakeoperationfrequently. Adjust
and service asrequired.
Maintain or replace safety and instruction
labels, asnecessary.
° Be sure the area isclear o fbystanders
before operating. Stop m achine ifanyone
enters thearea.
• Never carry p assengers.
• Do not m ow inreverse unless absolutely
necessary. Always look d own a nd behind
before and while backing.
Never c arrychildren, evenwiththe
blades shut o ff. They may falloffand
beseriously injured or interfere with safe
machine operation. Children who have
been g iven r ides i nthe past maysuddenly
appear inthemowing area foranother
ride and berunover o rbacked over b y
themachine.
- Keep children outofthemowing area
and inthe watchful care ofaresponsible
adult other than the operator.
• Bealert a nd turn machine offifachild
enters the area.
• Before and while backing, took behind
and down for small children.
Mow up and down slopes (15 ° Max), not
across.
• Choose a low ground speed so that you
will not have to stop or shift while on the
slope.
• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on a
slope, ifthetireslosetraction, disengage
the blades and proceed slowly straight
down the slope.
• If machine stops while going uphill,
disengage blades, shift into reverse and
back down slowly.
• Do notturn on slopes unless necessary,
and then, turn slowly and gradually
downhill, ff possible.
