• Always mix oradd fuel inaclean, well-ventilated
outdoor area w here there
are nosparks orflames. Do not s moke.
• Never operate the unit w ithout the fuel c ap securely
inplace.
• Avoid c reating asource ofignition forspilled fuel. W ipe u pany spilled fuel
from the unit i mmediately
before starting the unit. Move the unit a tleast
30feet ( 9.1 m ) f rom the fueling source and site before starting the unit. Do
not s moke.
Never start orrun the unit i nside a closed room orbuilding. Breathing
exhaust fumes can befatal. Operate this unit o nly i nawell-ventilated
outdoor area.
• Check the unit f or f uel l eaks.
Loosen the fuel tank cap slowly torelieve any pressure
inthe tank.
• Never store t he unit w ith fuel inthe tank, inside abuilding where fumes
may r each anopen f lame ( pilot lights, etc.) orsparks (switches,
electrical
motors, etc.).
To reduce fire hazard, replace afaulty m uffler and spark arrestor.
Keep t he
engine and muffler free from grass, leaves, excessive
grease orcarbon
build up.
• Avoid a ccidental
starting. Be inthe starting position whenever
pulling the
starter rope. The operator
and unit m ust beinastable position while
starting.
Do not t ouch t he engine, gear housing ormuffler. These parts g et
extremely
hot f rom operation,
even a fter the unit i sturned off.
Turn t he engine tooff a nd disconnect
the spark plug formaintenance
or
repair.
TRIMMER
SAFETY
The trimmer attachment
shield must always be in place while operating
the unit. Do not operate unit without both trimming
lines extended, and
the proper line installed.
Do not extend the trimming line beyond the
length of the shield.
Adjust the D-handle that provides the best possible grip.
Be sure the trimmer attachment
is not in contact with anything before
starting the unit.
Use only 0.095 in (2.41 mm) replacement
line. Never use metal-reinforced
line, wire, chain or rope. These can break off and become dangerous
projectiles.
• Keep unit clean of vegetation
and other materials. They may become
lodged between the trimmer attachment
and shield.
Keep hands, face, and feet away from all moving parts. Do not touch or
try to stop the trimmer attachment
when it rotates.
