    Installing the Carbon Filter Your EdgeStar portable air conditioner ships with a pre-filter and an activated carbon filter. The carbon filter will help remove contaminates and odors from the air. It is recommended you replace the carbon filter every two to three months, or as needed. It is necessary to clean the pre-filter periodically.

    Draining the Unit The unit will need to be drained if set to dehumidify mode. When the portable air conditioner is in cooling mode, it will remove moisture from the air. The condensed water from the air will be collected in an internal reservoir and will be evaporated and exhausted out of the exhaust hose.
