Problem

Checkpoint
Dismount the rib-
bon cartridge, ro-
tate its knob manu-
ally, and check
whether the ribbon
feeds normally.
Check whether the
ribbon driving gear
rotates when the
carriage is moved
manually.
Move the carriage
manually, and
check whether the
planetary lever
turns in reverse
and engages the
gear.
Check whether the
ribbon mask is in
the correct
position.
Set the gap adjust
lever to the second
position, and check
the gap between
the tip of the print-
head and the
platen.
The appropriate
value is 0.38 mm.
Check the paper-
end sensor switch.

Solution
Replace the ribbon
cartridge.
Remove any for-
eign substance.

Reinstall the ribbon
mask.
