Question: Why do some users on the HP SAM client have to select a role to connect and others
do not.
Answer: Users who are in more than one role need to select the role to connect. Those users
who are in only one role do not see this screen.
Question: Can the user select all roles on the client side to connect at the same time?
Answer: This option is not available at this time. You can only connect to one role at a time.
Question: Can the user connect to multiple blade PCs from the same client access device?
Answer: Yes, if the user is in multiple roles. One user can only connect to one blade within the
same role.
Question: Why is my blade being marked offline even though I am able to connect to it using
Remote Desktop Connection?
Answer: Check your firewall settings on the blade PC to make sure the SAM port (47777) is
allowed for incoming connection.
Question: My user is unable to connect to a blade PC on the browser-based Web client. What's
going on?
Answer: Verify that the server is up and running and your firewall is enabled to allow port 3389
for IEXPLORE.EXE
Question: Why is my client not switching to the failover server in my list?
Answer: Make sure the FAILOVER=1 is defined in your .SAM file
Question: Why are my users being asked to reconnect via the HP SAM client every time there is
a network glitch?
Answer: The Auto-Reconnect setting was set to OFF. This could have been done as a
Forced-Setting on the system administration side to ensure that the HP SAM validates
that the blade the user is on is still reserved under that user's name.
Question: Why are my RDC settings not working as I set it on the client side?
Answer: The settings on the client side may have been overridden by the forced settings on the
HP SAM server in the Policy tab.
Question: Why does my user have to type the password twice every time in order to log into a
blade PC?
Answer: This should not have happened. The Active Directory policy is requiring the user to
log in to the blade interactively. Either disable this policy or remove the Password box
from the HP SAM client by setting PasswordEnable=0 in the .SAM file.
