How NETBuilder II Chassis and Modules Work Together to Give You Scalable Growth
You can install any NETBuilder II interface module—
extended or regular format, MP (multiprocessor) or non-MP
modules—in any NETBuilder II 4-slot, 8-slot, or 8-slot
extended chassis. What's more, you can mix extended and
regular modules in the same chassis, and you can add, move,

Benefits
Multiple chassis offering with a complete selection of hardware and software
components to meet customer demands and requirements.
ISDN, Frame Relay, ATM, leased lines, and other line types meet customers'
WAN connectivity needs while WAN grooming features reduce service costs.
Plug-and-play routing simplifies network expansion and eases router administration.
Centralized Management application supports Configuration and Change
Management, Performance, Security, and Fault Management.
Network managers can store configuration files off-line in an ASCII text file,
allowing off-line manipulation using a standard ASCII text editor.
Allows distribution of software updates and configuration changes from
a central location.
The NETBuilder II router can support more than 60,000 routes, enabling room for
future growth and direct Internet connectivity.
Link State protocols, OSPF and NLSP, provide standards-based proven scalability for
large internetworks. These protocols consume less WAN bandwidth allowing greater
availability for data traffic.
Extensive IBM SNA multiprotocol options, such as DLSw Version 2 (RFC 2166),
allow users to integrate large networks.
The ability to support multiple logical connections across high-speed pipes.
Comprehensive LAN and WAN interface modules to support today's common media
can be installed in any NETBuilder chassis system.
or exchange interface modules without disrupting other
modules. This any-to-any compatibility and hot-swap
support ensures scalable, cost-effective network growth.
