Whenyou drain theoil fromthe top oil fill tube,the fuel tank mustbe
I emptyor fuel can leakoutand resultin a fire or explosion.Toempty
Ithe fuel tank, runthe engine untilit stopsfrom lack of fuel.

With engineoff but still warm,disconnectthe spark plugwire (F)
and keepit awayfrom the spark plug.
2.
Placea suitablecontainernext to theengine to catchthe usedoil.
3.
Removetheoil fill dipstick(E) and drainthe oil intothe container
by tippingthe enginetowardthe oil filler neck.See Figure13.
Usedoil is a hazardouswasteproduct.Disposeof usedoil properly.
Donotdiscardwith householdwaste.Checkwith yourlocalauthori-
ties or SearsServiceCenterfor safedisposal/recycling facilities.

With theengine in a levelposition,fill to the upper limit markon
the dipstickwith the recommended oil.
Runningthe enginewith a low oil levelcan causeenginedamage.
5.
Reinstallthe oil fill dipstick securely.

Checkoil levelbeforeeachoperation.Be sureoil levelismaintained.
1.
Checktheoil with the enginestoppedand level.
2.
Removetheoil fill dipstick(G) and wipeit clean. See Figure14.
3.
Insertand tightendipstick.Removeit to checktheoil level.
4.
If theoil levelisnear or belowthe lowerlimit markon the dipstick,
removethe oil fillercap/dipstick,and fill with the recommended oil
(H) to the upper limit mark(J). Do notoverfill.
5.
Reinstallthe oil fill dipstick.
Clean

Dailyor beforeeveryuse, cleangrass,chaff or accumulated
debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,and controlsclean.
Keeparea aroundand behindmufflerfreeof any combustible
debris.
Keepingenginecleanallowsair movementaroundengine.
Engineparts shouldbe keptcleanto reducethe risk of overheat-
ingand ignition of accumulated debris.
