Connecting Power Cables

CAUTION
Failure to use an ATX12V power supply, or not connecting the 12 V (2x2) processor core voltage
power supply connector to the desktop board may result in damage to the desktop board and/or
power supply.
PCI Express x16 graphics cards that consume 75 W or more power require the use of an ATX12V
power supply with 2x12 power connections to support the additional power requirements.
Connecting 2x10 Power Supply Cables
The 2x12 main power connector on the desktop board is backwards compatible with ATX12V
power supplies with 2x10 power connections. Figure 20 shows the location of the power
connectors. Figure 21 shows the location of the power connectors.
1. Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin" on page 23.
2. Connect the 12 V processor core voltage power supply cable to the 2x2 connector.
3. Connect the main power supply cable to the 2x12 connector.
