Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 Installation Guide
This document presents the most important information that you need to install
Windows NT version 3.51. Please check with HP Support for information regarding
newer versions of Windows NT after they are released by Microsoft.. The first section
of this document is a list of helpful tips on Windows NT installation. The second
section is a step-by-step installation guide. Please see the CD-ROM-based HP
Information Assistant for additional detailed information to help you install Windows
NT.
NOTE:
Hewlett-Packard has more than one Disk Array Controller
(DAC) for the NetServer product family. In this document
the term "HP Disk Array" refers to the EISA and PCI Disk
Array Controller models C3609A and C3610A,
respectively. The term "HP NetRAID" refers to the HP
NetRAID PCI Adapter model D4943A.

Installation Tips Extended Translation Run the EISA Configuration Utility (ECU) from the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM and enable "Extended Translation for Drives larger than 1 GB" for the embedded SCSI controllers and other installed SCSI controllers.

    If the DAT drive is attached to the embedded SCSI controller, be sure to remove the DAT drive SCSI terminator; the SCSI cable is self-terminated. Refer to the DAT drive manual for instructions on removing the terminator. Boot Partition If the system boots from the Disk Array controller, ensure that the first logical drive created by the JetSet Utility is 2048 MB or less.

    Repeat step 5. Select the "Hewlett-Packard NetRAID Adapter" if your system has the HP NetRAID Adapter. Press Enter to install. Repeat step 5. Select the "Hewlett-Packard Disk Array Driver" if your system has the HP Disk Array Controller. Press Enter to install.

    8. Continue with the Windows NT Installation. Refer to the Microsoft Windows NT Installation Guide for additional information. NOTE If the boot drive is new or has just been initialized, Windows NT may hang while booting from the hard drive. Please see the troubleshooting section for a solution.

During Windows NT installation, the system will reboot and continue with the graphical installation. When you get to the Networking screen, Windows NT Setup asks if you want it to detect the network adapter in your computer.

In the next screen, Select SCSI Adapter Option, the Hewlett-Packard NetRAID Adapter is already selected, simply click Install. 8. If the following message appears, click New to replace the existing driver.

    9. Click Close to exit the SCSI adapters portion of -Windows NT Setup, and then close the program. Shutdown Windows NT and reboot. Section 3. Troubleshooting The following is a list of known problems and workarounds with Microsoft Windows 1. If the boot drive is new or just initialized, Windows NT may give a warning message about disk drives having more than 1024 cylinders during the first reboot from the hard drive.
