2 Prerequisites

This section lists the prerequisites that are required before deploying the plug-in.

Plug-in host configuration prerequisites

The plug-in host requires the Oracle Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface (EMCLI) and HP
RAID Manager library.
EMCLI installation and configuration
The EMCLI must be installed on the plug-in host. Installation and user documentation is available
from Oracle at:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/documentation/index.html
On the plug-in host, download the EMCLI client kit from the Grid Control installation. Ensure
that the host is equal to where the OMS is installed. A sample command follows:
HTTP(S)://host:port/em/console/emcli/download The emclikit.jar
The emclikit.jar file is located in the $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/jlib directory of the
Grid Control Oracle Management Server home.
NOTE:
-url=http://myworkstation.us.oracle.com:em_port/em -username=em_user.
After a successful installation, the Emcli Setup Successful message appears.
RAID Manager library installation and configuration
Ensure that the latest RAID Manager library is installed on the plug-in host.
The RAID Manager library command devices must be configured and presented to this host.
The plug-in executable uses the RAID Manager library interface to gather information from
the XP disk array.
If the plug-in monitors multiple disk arrays one command device for each disk array must be
presented to the host. Only one command device must be configured from each disk array.
Command device ownership to the Oracle agent user account must be provided for read and
write access. For example for the command device:
/dev/rdsk/cxtydz
Use the following HP-UX command to provide access:
# chown oracle:dba /dev/rdsk/cxtydz
# chmod 660 /dev/rdsk/cxtydz

Managed host configuration prerequisites

Ensure that the managed hosts have unique node names and current HP–UX patches.
Unique node names
All the nodes managed by the Oracle Enterprise Manager need a unique node name. Use
the HP-UX command:
uname -n
on all the nodes to ensure the names are unique.
