All Business Copy Z operations, with the following exceptions, can be performed in the Continuous
Access Synchronous Z and Continuous Access Journal Z secondary sites, irrespective of Continuous
Access Synchronous Z pair status. The Continuous Access Journal Z delta resync pair's status must
be HOLD or HLDE.
The Reverse Copy can only be performed when the Continuous Access Synchronous Z and
Continuous Access Journal Z pair status is Suspended.
The Quick Restore can not be performed.

Compatible FlashCopy

If you use Compatible FlashCopy and Business Copy Z, you can only use the configuration of a
Business Copy Z S-VOL shared with a Compatible FlashCopy S-VOL. The following shows Business
Copy Z operations which can be performed on Compatible FlashCopy pairs (relationships).
Performable Business Copy Z operations: Add pair, Split pair, Suspend Pair, Resync Pair,
Delete Pair
Unperformable Business Copy Z operations: Reverse Resync, Quick Restore
The following shows FlashCopy Version 2 operations which can be performed to Compatible
FlashCopy pairs.
Establishing relationships
Deleting relationships
The previous operations can be performed when the pair status of the Business Copy Z is the
following:
Performable pair status: Simplex, Pending, Duplex, SP-Pend, V-Split, Resync, Suspend
Unperformable pair status: Resync-R
Up to 16 Compatible FlashCopy pairs can be created, even if the S-VOL has three Business Copy
Z T-VOLs.

Compatible XRC

If a Business Copy Z S-VOL and a Compatible XRC source volume (original data) share the same
volume, you cannot perform the reverse copy or quick restore operation.
Do not use Compatible XRC T-VOLs (copied data) for Business Copy Z volumes.

Concurrent Copy

If Business Copy Z S-VOLs and Concurrent Copy source volume (original data) share the same
volumes, you cannot perform the reverse copy or quick restore operation for those volumes.
Do not use Concurrent Copy T-VOLs (copied data) for Business Copy Z volumes.

Resource Partition Manager

Resource Partition Manager allows you to create Business Copy Z pairs using volumes that belong
to resource groups as S-VOLs and T-VOLs. However, user settings can affect your ability to create
Business Copy Z pairs.
