Networking
MC/ServiceGuard for Linux supports redundant networks, even though these are not shown in the
diagrams. The redundant client network connections allow local failover from one NIC to another in case
of a network path failure. These connections must be on the same subnet. This can be implemented
through the use of Virtual LAN support in the network switches. Failover from one NIC to another
prevents a Package, or the entire system, from failing over to another system. This minimizes impact to the
application and to the users.
Supported NICs are:
The Integrated NICs on the various supported servers
HP Integrated Dual Port NIC (P2511AV) – this is only available when ordered with a server using
"Select Express"
HP10/100 IPSec 3 DES LAN Adapter (P3492A) – Replacing the D5013B: 10/100TX PCI LAN
Adapter
NetRAID Driver
It is recommended that you configure a redundant root disk using the NetRAID adapter card on systems
where this card is used. The current NetRAID driver pre-bundled in RedHat Linux 7.1 is NOT compatible
with the NetRAID 1M or 2M adapters. For proper operation of NetRAID (1M or 2M) in your
MC/ServiceGuard for Linux IA-32 Server configuration, you must download and install the 1.15hp driver.
The updated NetRAID driver—version 1.15hp—is posted on the official HP Web site at the following
URL:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/servers/software/drv_lnx_nr_115hp.exe.html
Download and extract the driver files to a pair of floppy disks.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(1) The install process found in this link is incomplete for MC/ServiceGuard for Linux. Follow the updated
installation instructions in Getting Started With MC/ServiceGuard for Linux, pn B9903-90006.
(2) The use of the NetRAID card is only recommended for use in creating a redundant root disk. The
NetRAID card is not supported for configuring shared data storage.
Sample configurations
The configuration tools currently not available on the Web will support MC/ServiceGuard for Linux,
however, this configuration guide has enough information to allow the user to configure a cluster. The
following example configurations can be used as a guideline. There are specific configuration examples
and a description of the process used to create them. Select Express can be used to order the servers. Use
the configuration tools to find the appropriate Product Numbers. Some components inside the server may
not be able to be configured with Select Express. These must be ordered separately and added later.
The configurations described do not include any networking equipment. As shown in the previous
diagrams, a hub is necessary to connect the two client LANs. The customer must then connect the client
LANs to the remainder of their network infrastructure.
Sample SCSI configuration
The following table is an example 2-node SCSI configuration with an LC2000r and an LP2000r without
any UPS systems. There are enough PDUs to support the redundant power as described earlier. The user
can add 2 UPS systems that each support about 18A at 120V if desired for this particular configuration.
The HP IA-32 Server Web Configurator was used for basic information including part numbers, etc. Use
this tool to adjust CPU speed, the amount of RAM, internal storage, etc. What is critical is the number of
