Using Your Computer Phone Software

Once you have configured your computer software, you can use your
computer as an answering machine. You can make phone calls, and
screen calls that you receive. You can also use it to take voice messages
when you are not at your desk, or when you don't want to be disturbed
by answering the phone.

Making and Receiving Phone Calls

To make sure that your communications software is configured to make
and receive phone calls, check that you have:
1 Set up your communications software by following the procedure
described in Setting Up Your Communications Software.
2 Turned on Cheyenne Quip. To check that Quip is turned on, right-
click the Cheyenne icon on your taskbar. The Answering Machine
item in the pop-up menu indicates whether the answering machine
is on or off. If it is off, click the Answering Machine item in the pop-
up menu.
3 Launched your Windows Messaging Inbox by double-clicking the
Inbox icon, if you want to be notified when calls arrive.

Warning
Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently
damage your hearing. Before putting on your headset, place it around your
neck and turn the volume down. Then, put on the headset and slowly increase
the volume by using the Audio Mixer Applet or the enhanced keyboard until you
find a comfortable listening level, where the sound is clear, without being too
loud. When you can hear comfortably and clearly, without distortion, leave the
volume control in that position.
1 Put on your headset.
