6.2 Icons on the Handset LCD

Varied icons appear in different modes on the LCD. The following table lists the icons
and their descriptions.
Icon Description
It indicates the signal strength. The more the vertical bars, the stronger
the signal.
It indicates that the handset is in use.
az It indicates that the current input method is for lower-case letters.
AZ It indicates that the current input method is for upper-case letters.
0-9 It indicates that the current input method is for digits.
It indicates the battery charge level.
It indicates that you have missed one or more calls. After you view the
missed calls, this icon disappears.
It indicates that you receive one or more phonic messages. After you
view the messages, this icon disappears.
It indicates that the hands-free function is enabled.
It indicates that the alarm function is enabled.
It indicates that the keypad is locked.

6.3 Powering On/Off the Handset

Before powering on the handset, ensure that the battery is installed. For details, see
"Installing the Battery" on page 11.
The handset is automatically powered on when you place it on the base.
