Security function

Security function
Be sure to write down your passcode and keep it in a safe place. If you forget the passcode,
you will be unable to play or access any files in the security folder. Yamaha will be unable
to decrypt or reset the passcode for you.
Note:
· The security function of the unit restricts playback from the S folder, but does not
encrypt files.
· The capacity of the security area is 128 MB.
· You can record files in and delete files from the security area (the S folder) even if the
security function is turned on.

About the public area and the security area

The unit features the public area and security area. Each area contains the following
folders:
• Public area — A, B, C, D, L and M folders: For normal recording and playback
• Security area — S folder: Playback from this folder can be locked via passcode.

About playback in the security area (S folder)

When security lock is on: You must enter the passcode to release the security lock to
play back files.
When security lock is off: You can play back files in this folder in the same way as in
the public area.

Turning the security lock on and off

Turning the security lock on

1.
While the unit is stopped, press the MENU/STOP button for at least two (2)
seconds.
2.
Press the Y or T button to select "COMMON", then press the W button.
3.
Press the Y or T button to select "SECURITY ON", then
press the W button.
4.
Press the Y or T button to select a number for the first
digit, then step to the next digit by pressing the W button.
You can set any four-digit number from 0000 to 9999 as the
passcode. (The factory-set passcode is 0000.)
5.
Enter a number for digits 2 to 4 in the same way.
