7.1 About QuickFinder in OES 2

QuickFinder lets users search for information on any of your public and private Web sites, partners'
sites, and any number of additional Web sites across the Internet or on internal file servers, all from
a single search form on your Web page.
The look and feel of the search page is configurable so you can match your corporate design.
Using the QuickFinder Unicode* indexing engine, you can create full-text indexes of
HTML
XML
PDF
Word
OpenOffice.org documents
Many other document formats in almost any language
You can also configure and maintain such indexes remotely from anywhere on the network with the
QuickFinder Web-based administration module.

7.2 Platform Differences in QuickFinder

There are no significant differences between QuickFinder running on NetWare and QuickFinder
running on OES 2 SP2.

7.3 Planning to Upgrade QuickFinder

Upgrading QuickFinder to OES is a manual process, but it is also very straightforward, as is the
planning process:
1. Identify the QuickFinder service you plan to upgrade from NetWare to OES 2 SP2.
2. Install QuickFinder on the OES 2 SP2 server, using the Novell QuickFinder service pattern.
