PG9905/PG8905/PG4905
Wireless PowerG Temperature Detector
Installation Instructions
Introduction
The PGx905 is a wireless PowerG detector for both indoor and out-
door applications. The detector monitors room temperature using
an internal sensor. For outdoor or refrigerator installations, a water-
proof temperature probe (optional) is used. The PGx905 can be
used in instances where temperature detection is critical.
Other examples of detector usage are as follows:
• Activating and deactivating pipe heaters at locations where
low temperatures may cause the water in pipes to freeze.
• Warn of possible electrical device malfunction due to high
or low temperature levels.
• Alerting elderly people of a significant rise or drop in room
temperature.
Features
• Internal temperature sensor
• An optional external temperature probe (PGTEMP-
PROBE) enables outdoor and refrigerator temperature sens-
ing
• Fully supervised PowerG detector
• Built-in link quality indicators reduce installation time by
eliminating the need for the installer to physically approach
the control panel
• Long battery life
• Low battery supervision
• Probe disconnected supervision
• Includes a "smart" anti- collision transmission sequence
mechanism that prevents collisions with transmitted mes-
sages from other PowerG devices.
Operation
PGx905 series detectors update the alarm system control panel
upon any change of temperature. Based upon the configuration,
once a chosen temperature point has been reached, the control
panel generates an alarm or warning message, sends a notification
to the central station, and if configured, uses the PGM controls to
switch on a connected appliance (e.g., a heater or an air condi-
tioner.) When the temperature returns across the configured thresh-
old, a restore message is generated.
When using the temperature probe, temperature measurements are
only performed by the probe sensor. When the probe is not con-
nected and its terminals are shorted, the temperature measurement
is performed only by the detector's internal sensor.
For further reliability, the PGx905 tamper switch is activated when
the detector cover is removed. Operating power is obtained from an
on-board 3 V Lithium battery. A weak battery will result in a "low
battery" message.
Note: When using the temperature probe to monitor refrigerator
temperature, install the temperature probe inside the refrigerator
and install the detector on the wall or ceiling. For outdoor installa-
tions, install the temperature probe outdoors, and install the detec-
tor indoors.
Device Setup
Caution! To be installed by service persons in non-hazardous loca-
tions only. Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect
type. Observe polarity when installing batteries. Dispose of used
batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions and accord-
ing to local rules and regulations.
Note: To ensure the continued operation of all wireless devices
after performing a system default, a global upload of all wireless
programming via DLS is recommended before defaulting the sys-
tem. After completing the system default, download the wireless
programming.
