Installing a Certificate Manager
installing in a particular instance, and allows you to make some configuration
choices for the subsystem, and get and install the certificates used by the
subsystem. Once the Certificate Manager is installed, it is set up with a default set
of configuration settings. You can change the default settings to meet the needs of
your PKI.

Installing a Certificate Manager as a Root CA

To configure the Certificate Manager as a root CA:
Log into Netscape Console as the administrator, see "Netscape Console" on

Select the CMS instance and then either click Open, or double click this

The Installation Wizard launches.
Installation Wizard Introduction. Click Next to continue.

Logon Token. Choose either

Certificate Manager signing certificate and key pair. If you have not previously
initialized the token's password, you must do so in this screen. See "Tokens,"
on page 93 for more information.
Internal Database. Choose to either create a new internal database for this

instance or to use an existing Directory Server instance as the internal database
for this instance. Next, specify the information for that Directory Server
instance. See "Internal Database," on page 93 for more information.
Click Next to continue. The wizard sets up the new internal database, which
takes some time.
