06 Starting and driving

Keyless drive (option)

General
The keyless drive function allows the car to
be unlocked, driven and locked without the
need for a key, see page 100.

The ignition switch ignition dial is used in the
same way as the key. One precondition for
starting the car is that the car's remote con-
trol is located inside the passenger compart-
ment or the cargo area.

Starting the car
– Depress the clutch pedal (cars with man-
ual gearbox) or brake pedal (cars with
automatic gearbox).
Petrol engine
– Press in and turn the ignition dial to
position III.
Diesel engine
1. First turn the ignition dial to position II
and wait until the diesel indicator symbol
in the combined instrument panel goes
out, see page 41.
2. Following which, turn the ignition dial to
position III.
Starting with the remote control
If the remote control battery is discharged
then the Keyless Drive function does not
work. In which case, start the car by using
the remote control as ignition dial.
1. Press in the catch in the ignition dial.
2. Pull the ignition dial out from the igni-
tion switch.
3. Insert the remote control into the igni-
tion switch and start in the same way
as with the ignition dial.
