    When it is displayed, be sure to read the license terms and license agreement carefully. Getting to know Windows For detailed information on what is new and how to operate Windows, refer to Tips in the Start menu. Start menu The Start menu is the launching pad for everything you can do in the Windows operating system, providing easy ways to access your apps, programs, websites and other important information.
  • Page 31 Action Center You can review important notifications from apps or Windows in Action Center, and take action without having to open apps. It also provides quick action buttons to access to most-used settings instantly. Select the Action Center icon on the Windows taskbar to view your notifications and quick actions.

    Tablet mode Tablet mode enables touch-optimized working environment without keyboard and mouse. After switching to tablet mode, Start menu and apps are running in full screen, giving you more space to work in. To use two apps side-by-side, drag an app to one side. You will see any open apps that can snap next to it.

Benefits of Hibernation Mode The Hibernation Mode feature provides the following benefits: Saves data to the internal storage drive when the computer automatically shuts down because of a low battery condition.

    Media Restoring the pre-installed software from the Recovery Partition If you choose dynabook Maintenance Utility to erase the internal storage, all data including the operating system and recovery partition will be deleted. In that case, you cannot create recovery media or restore the pre- installed software from the recovery partition.

Otherwise, same fingerprints cannot be registered after the reinstallation. Make sure to use the default Boot Mode option in dynabook Setup Utility before restoring. Launch the dynabook Setup Utility.

    DC IN/Battery The DC IN/Battery indicator shows the indicator condition of the DC IN and the battery charge status. White indicates the battery is fully charged while the power is being correctly supplied from the AC power adaptor.     Before removing a USB device from the USB port of your computer, click the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon on the Windows Taskbar, and then select the USB device that you want to remove. Keep foreign metal objects, such as screws, staples, and paper clips, out of the USB port.

    Chapter 4 Operating Basics This chapter describes the basic operations of your computer, and highlights the precautions that must be taken when using it. Using the Touch Screen Some models are equipped with a touch screen. You can use your finger to manipulate icons, buttons, menu items, the on- screen keyboard, and other items on the touch screen.

    Swipe Quickly move your finger in from the edge of the screen, without pausing when you first touch it. Swipe from the left edge: views all your open apps in task view. Swipe from the right edge: opens the Action Center.

    Three-Finger Scroll Place three fingers down and slide them vertically or horizontally from anywhere on the Touch Pad. Slide towards left/right: switches between your open apps. Slide your fingers slowly across the Touch Pad to flip through them all.Slide up: views all your open apps in task view.Slide down: shows the desktop.

CAPS LOCK This indicator glows green when letter keys are locked into their uppercase format. Function Keys The function keys (F1 ~ F12) are the 12 keys at the top of your keyboard. Function keys let you enable or disable certain features of the computer.

    Using the AccuPoint To use the AccuPoint, simply push it with your finger tip in the direction you want to move the on-screen pointer. Two buttons above the Touch Pad work in the same way with the AccuPoint as they do with the Touch Pad. Some models are equipped with an AccuPoint.

    Using the Fingerprint Sensor Some models are equipped with the fingerprint sensor for the purpose of enrolling and recognizing fingerprints. By enrolling the ID and password onto the fingerprint authentication feature, it is no longer necessary to input the password from the keyboard.     Remove static electricity from your fingers by touching any metal surface. Static electricity is a common cause of sensor failures, especially when the weather is dry. Clean the sensor with a lint-free cloth. Do not use detergent or any other chemicals to clean the sensor. Avoid the following finger conditions for enrollment or recognition as they might result in fingerprint enrollment errors or a drop in the fingerprint recognition success rate...

    Disconnect the AC adaptor and turn on the computer's power. If it does not turn on then go to Step 4. Operate the computer on battery power for five minutes. If you find that the battery pack has at least five minutes of operating time, continue operating until the battery pack is fully discharged.
