8985PRC SD/HD Video Processing Amplifier
The 8985PRC is a fiber-ready SD/HD-SDI
video processing amplifier and color corrector.
It is ideal for correcting camera feeds, in-vision
monitor feeds, archive playback, or general
proc. amp duties.
This full-featured proc. amp allows RGB color
correction including gamma and component
adjustments on either SD or HD video. The
8985PRC can also control hue, chroma, and
luma similar to a traditional analog composite
proc. amp. Combined with a Newton control
panel, one or several channels of video can be
controlled easily and precisely by an operator
to make preliminary or even live adjustments
to levels and colors. All the functions of this
proc. amp are available in the 8985FSP frame
synchronizer where proc. amp control needs
to be combined with frame synchronization.
One of three types of optional SFP fiber optic
submodules can be installed in the fiber optic
rear cage connector to provide two fiber
inputs (Dual Receiver), two fiber outputs (Dual
Transmitter), or one fiber input and one fiber
output (Transceiver).
All parameters are set via the standard HTML
Web browsers or via the Newton control panel
(when installed in network equipped frames).
In addition, NetConfig and NetCentral can
be used for remote configuration and SNMP
signal health monitoring.
Refer to the rear module pinout and the block
diagram on the next page.
Electrical Length (delay)
HD modes: 104 pixels
SD modes: 90 pixels
Precision: ±1 pixel
RGB Color Correction
RGB range 0% to 200% in 1% steps: R gain,
G gain, B gain, total gain (controls all three at once)
RGB offset range 0% to 100% in 1% steps:
R offset, G offset, B offset, RGB offset (controls all
three at once)
Gamma correction range 0.25 to 4.00 in .01
steps: R gamma correction, G gamma correction,
B gamma correction, total gamma correction
Proc. Amp
Range 0% to 200% in 1% steps: Y gain, color
saturation, total gain (controls Y gain and color
saturation together), Cb gain, Cr gain
Range -100% to 100% in 1% steps:
Cb offset, Cr offset, Y offset
Range -180° to 179° in 1° steps: Hue
Control And Monitoring
SNMP: Yes
Web page configuration: Yes
Local configuration: No
Newton support: Yes
NetConfig support: Yes
NetCentral support: Yes
Applications
Color correction for camera feeds in live
production
Color enhancement and level correction
for playback of archival material
Correction of previously digitized material
not properly color corrected at digitization
Color balancing of feeds to in-vision
monitors for neutral look
Ordering Information
This module can be mounted in a GeckoFlex
frame but not in other 8900 series frames
including Gecko-A or Gecko-V frames. As this
module has no card-edge controls, an 8900NET
(Net Card) Network Interface module is required
to configure the module.
