dropout swap guide
The dropout on the 2010 FAITH is
uniquely designed to be interchangeable
for improved versatility.
Designed with the direct input of Giant
Pro Freerider, Kurt Sorge, and exclusive to
the 2010 FAITH, this rear dropout system
allows riders to change the bike's
wheelbase and headtube angle, resulting
in a completely different frame geometry.
How to swap the dropout from Type 1 to Type 2
Step 1: Use a 5mm Allen key to remove
the rear derailleur from the dropout.
Step 2: Use a 6mm Allen key and 19mm
wrench to remove the thru axle.
Step 3: Use a 5 mm Allen key to remove
the upper and lower dropout mounting
bolt (2 pieces).
Step 4: Install the Type 2 dropout and
tighten to the recommended torque of
80-100 kgf/cm (69-86 in.-lbs).
NOTE: use Loctite Primer and Loctite Blue
Removeable Threadlock, or similar material, on
the threads of the dropout mounting bolts.
Step 5: Clean the threads of the rear
derailleur and thru axle, and reinstall them
to the new dropout.
REQUIRED TOOLS:
--5 mm and 6 mm allen keys
--19 mm wrench
--loctite primer (#7649)
--loctite blue (#242)
Ultimately, it allows your customer to
custom-tune the FAITH's ride
characteristics to suit their riding style and
terrain type.
Each FAITH comes packaged with two
types of dropouts. The FAITH ships pre-
built with the stock Type 1 dropout
(RC442) installed. You can swap this unit
