The chiller can also be shipped dismantled when required by rigging conditions. However, it is more economical to make the access openings bigger to fit the factory-assembled unit through. Note: Chillers shipped dismantled must be field assembled under the supervision of a Johnson Controls representative, but otherwise complete installation as described in this manual.
After the unit is installed, piped, and wired as described, but before any attempt is made to start the unit, contact the Johnson Controls District Office to schedule the start-up service. This service is included in the contract price. Notify the Johnson Controls office using the YK Startup Checklist (Form 160.95-CL2).
Use this installation instruction based on the shipment form type. This instruction is provided with all units for installation and startup in the field. The services of a Johnson Controls representative is provided to check the installation and to supervise the initial startup and operation of all chillers installed in the Continental United States.
Report any damage or signs of possible damage to the transportation company immediately for their inspection. Note: Johnson Controls is not responsible for any damage in shipment or at the job site or for the loss of parts. Refer to Shipping Damage Claims (Form 50.15-NM).

Inlet and outlet connections are identified by labels placed adjacent to each nozzle. The coolant temperature inside any liquid-cooled motor starter supplied by Johnson Controls must be maintained above the dewpoint temperature in the equipment room to prevent condensing water vapor inside the starter cabinet.
Install the strainer in the entering chilled water line, directly upstream of the chiller. Note: Johnson Controls does not supply permanent strainers. Arrange the water piping circuits so that the pumps discharge through the chiller. Control the water piping circuits to maintain constant chilled and condenser water flows through the unit at all load conditions.
Thermometer wells and pressure taps should be provided in the piping as close to the unit as possible to facilitate operating check. Note: Johnson Controls does not supply stop valves, thermometer wells, or pressure taps. Flow switches Thermal type water flow switches are factory mounted in the chilled and condensed water nozzles and are factory wired to the OptiView control panel.
For a chiller with a 115 V, single phase, 50 Hz or 60 Hz power supply of 20 A must be furnished to the control center, from the control transformer (2 kVA required) included with the compressor motor starter. Do not make final power connections to control center until approved by a Johnson Controls representative. Oil pump, three-phase starter Separate wiring or a fused disconnect switch must be supplied by the installer.
