Get Started!

Unroll the mat and lay it flat in the desired location. Training mats are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, designed for use on worktops or sofas, in doorways or near dustbins.
Remove the controller's battery door. Install a new 9V battery and replace the battery door. Do not turn the controller on yet.
The controller attaches to the mat using two hooks and two snap fasteners. Insert the hooks through the openings in the corner of the mat, then click the controller into place on the mat.
Press the power button to turn the controller on and move at least 1 metre away while the controller is calibrated. The controller will continue to calibrate to its environment for 5 minutes after powering on. If tone is on, you may hear occasional activations during this time.
You can use the up and down arrow buttons to cycle through seven stimulation modes: tone only, three levels of static only, and three levels of tone with static. Use the setting most appropriate for your pet's temperament.

Pets learn at different rates, so it may take several times for your pet to understand and use the training mat correctly. Begin training with the tone only or tone with static (low) mode and allow your pet to wander freely around the mat.

If your pet is having trouble avoiding the mat, follow these steps:

Place a collar on your pet and attach a long lead. For cats, we recommend using a harness.
Walk your pet onto the mat. As soon as you hear the tone, gently pull them away from the mat.
Reward your pet with praise and treats each time they leave the mat.

Now you can let your pet explore with their new boundaries!

Safety timeout	If your pet stays on the mat for more than 8 seconds, the mat times out for 4 seconds. If your pet stays on the mat after that period, the stimulation will resume.
Moving your mat	Whenever you move the mat to a new location, press and release the power button to recalibrate the controller. Remember to move at least 1 metre away during calibration.
Conserve batteries	Hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn the controller off. Your settings will be retained.
Clean your mat	Remove the controller from the mat and wipe the mat with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water. Reattach the controller after the mat is dry.
