2.2 Trace Unit ( PX-TRS103E ) The MN103E T race Unit is an option debugging unit to operate the trace function by connecting the terminal for the trace of CPU to be debugged with the host computer and the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller. The Trace Unit does not operate alone because the Trace Unit is a function expansion module of the form connected with MN103E Onboard Debug Controller.

2.3 Connection of MN103E Onboard Debug Controller and Trace Unit To use the MN103E Trace Unit, connect the attached T race Unit Connection Adaptor with the EXT1 for the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/the Trace Unit and the EXT2 connector as shown in the figure below.
Connection with host computer The MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/the MN103E Trace Unit is connected with the DOS/V computer and used. 3.2 Connection with Printer port The MN103E debugging controller has the printer port and the host interface cable to connect the printer port below. This cable is used to connect theMN103E Onboard Debug Controller / Trace unit with the printer port. The connection method is shown in the figure below.

Connection with target board * Notice * It is necessary to install a special connector on the target board to connect the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/the Trace Unit and the target board equipped with the device for debugging. Please refer to the following "Notes when the target board is designed" for this special connector. 4.1 Using MN103E Onboard Debug Controller alone The JTAG cable of 16-wire (8-wire x 2) attached is used to connect the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller and the target board equipped with the device for debugging.

4.2 Using MN103E Trace Unit When using MN103E Trace Units in combination with MN103E Onboard Debug Controller,connect to the target board equipped with the device for debugging by the trace cable of 40-wire (20-wire x 2) attached as shown below. When the MN103E trace unit is used, it is unused.
Start procedure When debugging with MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/Trace Unit, operate as following procedure. The connection of MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/Trace Unit and host cmputer and target board is confirmed. The power supply of the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller/the Trace Unit is turned on, and confirm that the MN103E Onboard Debug Controller's POWER lamp (red) lights.

6.2 Concerning the wiring of the JTAG scanning chain The MN103E Onboard Debug Controller /the Trace Unit is a device which supports the software debugging by using IEEE1149.1 of MN103E series CPU (alias JTAG). Normally,to test the board where IEEE1149.1 originally aims (boundary scan test), the device corresponding to IEEE1149.1 is connected by one scanning chain on the target board as shown in the figure below.
