    Meet the LifeVest® WCD system 1: Meet the LifeVest® wearable cardioverter defibrillator system The LifeVest wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) is worn by a patient at risk for sudden cardiac arrest and who is not a candidate for or refuses an implantable defibrillator. It is lightweight and easy to wear, allowing patients to return to their activities of daily living.

    Meet the LifeVest® WCD system Essential performance The essential performance of the LifeVest WCD is that it detects ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia, then delivers a defibrillating shock.     Do not dispose of or incinerate the batteries. The batteries contain lithium ion and must be disposed of properly by ZOLL. The LifeVest WCD includes two batteries. While one battery is in the monitor, keep the second battery in the charger.
  • Page 66 LifeVest® WCD Patient Manual Charger setup To set up the charger: 1 Place the charger so you can easily get to the side of the unit to insert and remove the battery. Make sure you can easily view the indicator lights. The charger should be placed in a safe, convenient location where you can leave it plugged into a standard power outlet that stays on all the time and is not controlled by a switch.
  • Page 67 It is recommended you change and recharge the battery every 24 hours. Note: Recharging the battery typically takes less than 6 hours but can take up to 16 – 18 hours. ZOLL recommends you establish a battery charging routine and do not allow a battery to drain completely of all charge before charging the battery.
