COMMISSIONING

The battery is not included in the scope of delivery.
The battery life is approx. one year. The battery life can vary depending on ambient temperature and frequency of use.

Inserting the battery

For reasons of functional safety, only 1.5 V alkaline manganese (alkaline), type IEC LR6, may be used.
Inserting the battery

  1. Set the rotary knob to "OFF".The LED flashes once.
  2. Open and remove the battery compartment.
  3. Insert two new batteries into the battery compartment.
    • Note the polarity +/–.
  4. Replace the battery compartment.
    The LED flashes once and the water control is ready for use.

The LED lights up to confirm the set program. The colour of the LED indicates the battery charge status.
Green: Battery OK.
Orange: Battery low.
Replace the battery.
Red: Battery is empty, valve can no longer be opened. An open valve will be securely closed.
Replace the battery.

Note:
Do not remove the battery when watering is active, otherwise the valve's electrical connection will be interrupted and the valve will remain open.
The LED lights up orange 3 times every 10 seconds when the battery is low and red 3 times every 10 seconds when the battery is empty.

  • Screw the water control onto the tap.
  • Depending on the size of the tap, use the included adapter.

OPERATION

GARDENA® water control is configured via the rotary knob. It waters depending on the set program. Once the duration and frequency have been set, the selected program is confirmed by the LED. The first watering begins. The start time is now set and is retained when another program is selected.
The start time is reset by turning it to OFF.

Start delay


The start time can be changed by pressing the "+1h" button.
The start delay must take place within the first three seconds after the program has been selected.
Each time you press the button, the start time is changed by one hour (max. 23 hours).

Manual watering

When the rotary knob is set to manual watering, Water Now watering takes place for 15 minutes once.

STORAGE

The product must be stored away from children.
Remove the batteries from the product.
The product is not frost-proof (below 4°C).

Store the product in a dry, frost-free place.

TROUBLESHOOTING/MAINTENANCE

Problem Possible Cause Remedy

LED does not light up

Battery is incorrectly inserted. Observe the polarity (+/–).
Battery is completely empty. Insert two new 1.5 V alkaline manganese (alkaline), type IEC LR6.

Watering is not possible

Empty battery: LED flashes red. Insert two new 1.5 V alkaline manganese (alkaline), type IEC LR6.
The tap is closed. Open the tap.
Minimum pressure of 0.8 bar is not present Ensure minimum pressure of 0.8 bar.
Filter dirty, flow rate too low. Clean the filter.

Water control does not close

Minimum delivery quantity is less than 20 l/h. Connect more drip heads.
Valve dirty Flush in the opposite direction of normal flow.

Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product. Never use the product if you are tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.

General safety instructions

  • Read the operator's manual carefully before use and keep for future reference.

Intended use

GARDENA® water control is intended for private use in domestic and hobby gardens and is only to be used outdoors to control sprinklers and irrigation systems. It must not be used in industrial applications or in conjunction with chemicals, food or flammable and explosive substances.

Handling the batteries safely

  • Keep the batteries away from children.
  • Check the batteries regularly for damage.
  • Do not use damaged batteries.
  • Only batteries of the same type, brand and state of charge may be used.
  • If the battery is not used for an extended period of time, it must be replaced when the battery symbol lights up red or orange to prevent the water control from failing due to a low battery.

Commissioning

  • The water control must only be installed vertically and with the union nut facing upwards to prevent water from entering the battery compartment.
  • The temperature of the water flowing through must not exceed 30°C.
    The minimum water delivery rate for a safe switching function of the water control is 20–30 l/h(For example, for micro-drip systems there should be at least 10 x 2 litre drip heads).
  • Do not pull on the connected hose to avoid putting strain on it.
  • Only use the product at an operating pressure of between 0.8 and 10 bar.
