DATA USAGE

  • Settings > Connections > Data usage

Your smartphone Service Plan includes data. There are several options to monitor how your data is being used, and to set limits to conserve it. The Data usage menu will allow you to:

DIGITAL WELLBEING AND PARENTAL CONTROLS

  • Settings > Digital wellbeing and parental controls
You can monitor and manage your digital habits from the summary view on the dashboard. For example, the Driving Monitor summary shows your screen time usage while driving, excluding navigation apps. This can help you monitor your habits and redirect your focus.
You can set Parental controls to supervise your children's digital life with Google's Family Link app available in the Play Store. You can add restrictions to Google services, set app approvals, content filters, and set screen time limits for each user.

DOLBY ATMOS

  • Settings > Sounds and vibration > Sound quality and effects
This sound technology amplifies the sound on your phone's loudspeaker and connected devices when you stream a compatible movie, listen to music, or play a game so that you get a clearer audio experience similar to 3D audio. You can adjust the settings from your headphones or connected speaker.

MODES AND ROUTINES

  • Settings > Modes and Routines
These tools change device settings automatically based on your actions. Your device includes several built-in modes, such as Sleep, Theater, Driving, Exercise, Relax, and Work. Once you select a mode, your device will change settings automatically to reflect that mode. Modes can also be added and/or enabled manually.
Routines are "If this / Then that" actions that are activated when set criteria are met. You can adjust settings, control apps, and initiate other actions based on location, time, or when a specific "if this" action is performed. You can also set up routines based on where you are and what you're doing.

SAFETY & EMERGENCY

  • Settings > Safety and emergency

Medical Info: Store your medical information on your device so that medical personnel can access it from your lock screen without requiring your password or an internet connection.
Emergency SOS: In an emergency, quickly make a call or send an SMS text with your location to a designated contact. You can include a front/rear camera picture and/or a five-second audio. Once this feature is activated, and you designate a contact, tap the Side key quickly five times to send the SOS message. Default mode is OFF.
Emergency Location Services (ELS): This Google tool allows first responders to identify the location of an emergency call/text from an Android device faster and more accurately, even if the device's Location setting is set to OFF. Your phone must be running Android 10 or later and ELS must be supported in your region. Locations are sent directly to the emergency service contacted and are not viewed by Google.
Unknown tracker alert: When this option is turned ON, you will receive an alert when your device detects someone else's tracker is traveling with you and is out of Bluetooth range from the owner. The alert tells you how to find it and what to do next. Alerts will be erased after 48 hours.

SECURITY

  • Settings > Security and privacy

Lock screen: You should secure your device using a Screen lock to help prevent someone from accessing your device including your personal data, apps, and email accounts. Screen lock types offer different levels of security and include a numeric PIN, pattern, password, Face recognition or Fingerprint.
Lost Device Protection: Log in to your Samsung account from findmymobile.samsung.com where you will be able to perform various functions remotely to keep your information secure and identify your phone's last known location. Default setting is ON. Google Location service must also be ON.
App Security: Using Google Play Protect, App Security will regularly run a safety check on Play Store apps before you download them and check app updates for security risks. You will receive a notification if threats are detected. Default setting is ON.

Biometrics

  • Settings > Security and privacy > Biometrics

Face recognition: Unlock the screen by simply raising your phone and looking at the screen. You will need to set a secure screen lock type and allow Face recognition to take pictures and record video to complete the set-up process. Facial recognition data will be saved only to your phone and will not be backed-up.
Fingerprints: The fingerprint sensor is built into the SIDE key on the right edge of the device. Use your registered fingerprint to unlock the screen, confirm a purchase, or sign into an app that supports fingerprint ID. Fingerprint data will be saved only to your phone and will not be backed-up.

More Security Settings

  • Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings

Secure Folder: Keep information safe and protect photos, videos, files, apps and more. To set-up and access a Secure Folder, log in to your email account for identity verification, or create a password for your Samsung account. You can back-up and transfer a Secure Folder to a new device.
Samsung Pass: Log in to a site or app on your mobile device by using the registered fingerprint or face recognition information in place of a password. This helps prevent others around you from seeing your passwords as you enter them. Samsung Pass access may not be available on some device features.
SIM card security: Information on your SIM card can be compromised if the SIM card is placed into another device. To help protect it, you can create a PIN that will lock access to the SIM card.
Encrypt SD Card: If you use a microSD card, you can encrypt it so that it can only be read on your device once you enter the password you create. You must decrypt it before initiating a Factory data reset.
Pin app: Pin an app to the screen and block usage of all other functions of the phone. This feature is very helpful if you want to lend your phone to another user, such as a child, so that they can only use the pinned app.

WI-FI

  • Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > On/Off
Wi-Fi provides high-speed internet and network connections without using your service plan's data. To protect your information, connect to secure networks and set up passwords.

Wi-Fi Direct

  • Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > 3 dots > Wi-Fi Direct
Share data between Android devices even if they are from different manufacturers. You will not need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
