    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine Spur Ring Gear The spur ring gear assembly, which is the rotating part of the machine, is clamped to the cross- roller bearing assembly by a clamp plate and the ring gear provides the clamping location for the saddle assembly.

    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine 1.2.3 Pneumatic Motor and Gearbox assembly The machine is driven by one (1) pneumatic motor. THE MACHINE WILL ONLY BE SUPPLIED WITH A SINGLE PNEUMATIC MOTOR, DEPENDING ON THE CUSTOMERS SPECIFICATION AT THE TIME OF ORDERING.

    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine Both types of pneumatic motors incorporate an exhaust manifold and muffler. Both types of pneumatic motors are attached to a motor flange and secured to the gearbox using three (3) Off – M6x20 Socket Head Capscrews. The pneumatic motor output shaft locates within a keyed spindle and integral spur gear.

    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine 4.1.3 Filter/lubricator pack controls A gate valve on the pack is used to set the machine speed at the desired RPM when the control valve is fully open. To set the speed proceed follow the instructions in Section 5.3.1. The filter/lubricator oil regulator control is adjusted to provide a lubrication rate of 7 drops every 1 minute at full motor speed.

    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine 5.2 SETTING UP THE EQUIPMENT The following instructions are for installing the SILK AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing machine in position prior to operating the equipment. It is assumed that an appropriate air supply is available for connection to the machine (1.8m3/min, 6bar, 64 cfm, 87 psi).

    THIS DRIVE UNIT SHOULD BE LIFTED USING SUITABLE MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. The installation procedure detailed sets up the SILK AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing Machine in a horizontal position. If the machine is to set up in the vertical or inverted position, follow the set-up procedure but extreme care must be taken due to the greater risk of the machine falling off the flange during the setting and adjusting procedure.

If the flange has a raised face, it may be necessary to put a thin spacer between the mounting plate and the flange on each jaw.

IF THE MACHINE REQUIRES MORE THAN 0.5 MM (0.02”) FINAL ADJUSTMENT THE FAST-MOUNTING PLATES SHOULD BE REPLACED.

The automatic feed is engaged by lifting the handwheel on the saddle (see Figure 6.)

The TEAM Pneumatic Safety Unit (PSU) offers additional safety functionality alongside the pneumatic filter lubrication and can be purchased as a kit from TEAM Industrial Services. Use of the machine without a filter lubricator will result in premature motor failure.

The chart is not exhaustive, and the recommended action may not be the only solution to a fault. To prevent possible injury to personnel or damage to equipment it is recommended that faults are corrected as soon as they arise.

    AX024 Externally Mounted Flange Facing and Machine SECTION 7 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 7.1 INTRODUCTION The following information sets out recommendations for the maintenance of this equipment. Periodic maintenance, when carried out as specified, will help to prevent premature failure of the equipment. Should a component fail, or its operation become suspect the equipment should not be used until the fault has been rectified.
